Dental crowns also come in different materials. Crowns cap the entire tooth providing increased protection compared to fillings. This is especially important in children at high risk of further dental decay or tooth fracture.

Pulpotomy

A pulpotomy, also known as a "baby root canal", preserves the primary ("baby") tooth and prevents it from falling out too early when a cavity is close to or impacting the nerve root. Preserving the tooth provides a more optimal spacer for the incoming permanent tooth.
